Stop facebook game updates on your newsfeed

We all have friends and family that play on games on Facebook and for some reason want us to know, by posting an update which appears on your facebook newsfeed, that they have got to the next level or that they require something in the game from someone else playing on it.

This can be annoying if you are not interested in the games and you are friends with someone that is. To stop these updates appearing on your facebook newsfeed again is easy to do. You have to do this with every game so may take a bit of time.

To stop Facebook games updates

You need to wait for the game update to appear on your newsfeed.

Once it appears

Hover the mouse over the post about the games, at the top right and a dropdown menu will be available, select this by left clicking on the mouse

Select Hide all by app name

The newsfeed will clear of the game update, and you will no longer receive updates about this game.

Multiple games posts

Facebook will sometimes inform you that three or four of your friends have all started playing different games, which they have. In order not to receive any updates from these games

Hover the mouse over the post about the games, at the top right and a dropdown menu will be available, select this by left clicking on the mouse

Select Hide all by…

facebook-games

You will be given a list of games that your friends are playing, click the name of the game you do not want an update about

Once you have done this with all the games individually, go to the top of your browser and refresh or f5. The story list will no longer be there.

N.B. You have to be logged into the desktop version of facebook and not the app that can be used on Android, Ipad or Blackberry smartphones and tablets
